WAH bu zhi bu jue 2 weeks passed le. Time really flies.
2010 is coming to an end. It has been a memorable year i can say. Many thing happened, and it seems like 12 years of education is finally going to pause. For all the guys at least. Haha.

NS is coming soon. About one more month. I really wonder how im going to respond to that life. Haha but im quite positive about it currently :)

Okay you know, recently life's been really slack and great and you know everything that life is supposed to be. HAHAHA. :D

Okay, by now you should have realised that there is nothing much to blog about. See lah, all you people who ask me to update and never give me ideas to update. Tsk tsk tsk.

Hello hello!

So far, the holidays been great. :D Haha maybe sometimes there's boredom. Its nice to feel boredom not because of studying but because of having nothing to do. Hahaha.

I think this holiday is going to pass very fast. :( Better spend some quality time with my friends and family. After that NS then no time le.

Oh ya, speaking of which, wish those that have already gone in the best of luck :D Hope it isn't too tough for you guys.

Anyway, I've been thinking and i think humans are creatures who needs to compare. Just like the previous post which i talked about poverty, I think everything arises due to our need to compare. Even the way society is formed is also via comparison, such as meritocracy. We are comparing ourselves with others in terms of our achievements. No one can be at the top if no one is at the bottom.

The bell curve can show us this. If everyone is rich and no one is poor. No one is rich. This kinda stuff. I guess thats why we all have unlimited wants too. We always want to get the things that we cannot have. Maybe we are comparing who we are now with who we want to be and what we want in the future.

But nonetheless, without this mindset, there is no way for us to progress :/ (which itself requires us to compare the present with the past)

I wanna thank everyone whom I took photo with and everyone whom I did not take photo with due to the lack of camera. Haha, I will never forget you guys. :)

It has been a long journey in Hwa Chong. I guess I can say the journey is almost, if not already, complete. But, every one that I have met along the way, every friend that I have made along the way, will not be left behind after the journey. :D I love everyone of you.

So... 6 years have gone by. Nah, I'm not gonna say its very fast, because i dont feel so.
Nonetheless, these years have been great. :)

I suddenly realise there will be not much to blog about? No more school stuff to talk about D:

In that case I shall talk about something else.
I was thinking recently about inequality in this world. I mean, in GP, Geog and Econs, we will talk about this inequality. Most likely you would know that there is like 1 billion people living in extreme poverty, while wealth is concentrated among a small group of people, etc

This extreme poverty is defined as living with less than 1USD a day. But, the problem is this, this definition is very very very subjective, which means to say, it is related to the real value of the dollar, not just the nominal value of 1USD. Yea, you get my point.

Another thing is that majority of the people in the world is living with far more than 1USD a day, therefore we have this perception that living under 1USD a day is in extreme poverty. (yes, of course i agree that they can use the fact that these people are malnourished, have low life expectancy,etc to show that living under 1USD a day is very terrible.)

What I'm trying to say is that, if we are able to help these people. Let them get out of extreme poverty. Lets say, now the poorest people in the world are living with 5USD a day. It doesn't seem so bad now, but when we are in that situation, my guess would be that we will raise the bar of extreme poverty. And now these people living under 5USD will be extreme poverty. Why? because majority of the people is living far above 5USD a day. Everything is relative. And this relativity is sort of embossed into our minds. So we feel what we feel only because we know the norm.

Think about it, if you are one of the people who are living somewhere in subsaharan africa and have no idea about the existence of rest of the world, would you feel that you are in extreme poverty?
